The Open University branch of the University and College Union
It is the time of year once again to start the process of electing our UCU branch officers and committee members. The deadline for nominations is 4pm on Thursday 5th October, and the election results will be announced at our Annual General Meeting on 14th November 2017.
Any motions from members for consideration at our AGM should be sent to ucu@open.ac.uk by or on 25th October.
We have eleven branch officers and up to twelve ordinary branch executive committee members to elect. Please consider standing for election if you have an interest in trade union activities, or a wish to support your fellow employees on employment-related matters. For the branch to be representative it is desirable that we have members from all sections of Open University staff on our branch committee, and this is more important than ever given the changes and challenges we are facing at the moment.
The calling notice gives details of the nomination process and the election, and brief descriptions of the branch officers' roles. If you want further information please get in touch with us at ucu@open.ac.uk.
The branch has 200 days' facility time which allows our branch officers and committee members some time off from their normal work in order to carry out trade union responsibilities (though 200 days is not sufficient to cover all branch activists' time for everything they do).
