Marking and assessment boycott 2023

The marking and assessment boycott (MAB) was called off on 6th September 2023.

As part of the pay and working conditions disputes, the higher education committee (HEC) voted to begin a marking and assessment boycott (MAB) from Thursday 20 April 2023. This means that from Thursday 20 April we asked all UCU members in universities which are part of the UCU Rising disputes to cease undertaking all summative marking and associated assessment activities/duties. The boycott also covers assessment-related work.

Find out what this means for you and how you can take part, depending on your role. These FAQs contain specific advice for staff in different roles, including ALs, staff tutors/student experience managers, central academics, and curriculum managers.
