Kieran McCartney

Kieran is a Staff Tutor and Senior Lecturer in Education in the School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport (ECYS), a role he has held since 2017, and has been an Associate Lecturer since 2008. He teaches in three faculties: the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL).

Representing UCU, Kieran has been involved in consultations and negotiations, working to enhance staff welfare, policy, and organisational practice. His contributions include working on the joint UCU–OU management review of Staff Tutor/Student Experience Manager workloads as well as policy updates on bullying and harassment.

In his spare time, when he’s not working as a chauffeur for his children, Kieran is a full-time servant to a pack of German Shepherds and an aspiring guitarist locked in an ongoing battle with his instrument - one his audience reviews with mixed enthusiasm.
