The Open University branch of the University and College Union
UCU has announced the results of the ballot. UCU members have voted for strike action in their thousands. Returning a huge vote in favour of both strike action and action short of a strike. Sadly, UCU has fallen foul of the anti-union laws and the ballot has not met the required thresholds.
The UCU rising ballot closes on 2nd November, please return your ballot papers and tell us that you have voted using this form:
The last date to post your ballot paper is Tuesday 31st October.

It has come to our attention that the University Secretary's Office claim that UCU was consulted on the decision to dissolve the AL Assembly and AL Executive. The implication was that UCU was aware this decision was in progress and perhaps acquiesced in it.
This is categorically untrue, as the project lead has confirmed following correspondence.
UCU has announced today (Monday 3rd April) that it has successfully renewed its strike mandate at UK universities for a further six months, telling employers that "university staff are in the driving seat."
